Tombs with Gold Tongues Discovered in Marina El Alamein, Egypt 🏺✨

A new and fascinating archaeological revelation has just shaken the international scientific community and the field of classical Egyptology. A team of Egyptian researchers has located eighteen rock-cut tombs containing mummies with gold tongues in Marina El Alamein. This ancient port city, situated on the Mediterranean coast of Egypt, continues to surprise by revealing unique funerary rituals of the Graeco-Roman era.
The discovered burials date back approximately two thousand years and belonged to individuals of high social relevance in the ancient port. The bodies were carefully embalmed and wrapped in thick linen bandages, but the detail that caught attention was the metallic shine in the mouth. Gold leaf plates shaped like human tongues were perfectly positioned over the jawbones of several intact mummies.
The detailed exploration of this coastal cemetery was conducted with modern excavation techniques and photogrammetric reconstruction of the underground chambers. The team documented that many of the tombs had monumental architecture in the form of vertical shafts leading to vaulted rooms carved out of limestone. The geographical isolation of these coastal tombs prevented the destructive action of tomb raiders over the last centuries, preserving valuable artifacts of great interest.
